The Department of Civil Engineering offers the degree program dealing with structural engineering, hydraulic engineering, geotechnical engineering, infrastructure planning, civil engineering materials and disaster prevention engineering. This faculty provides academic preparation for students considering a career in civil and environmental engineering.
It is necessary to solve various problems related to construction fields including preparation for disaster prevention and earthquake proof systems, development of the national land that is harmonized with the natural environment, building road and railway networks and improving rivers, in order to construct comfortable and secure infrastructure. Our department aims to educate engineers and researchers who upon graduation will be able to manage these problems based on their extensive doctrine and expert knowledge.
Professional subjects are mainly divided into six fields, namely, structural engineering, hydraulic engineering, geotechnical engineering, infrastructure planning, civil engineering materials and disaster prevention engineering. The curriculum makes it possible for the students to acquire engineering methods comprehensively on planning, investigating, scheduling, designing, constructing and maintaining.
After graduation the students are expected to pursue their career in construction consultant firms, transport, communication and electric power industries as well as government offices and agencies, construction industries related to roads or rivers and industries associated with construction of bridges, construction materials and real estates. Our statistics show the number of students who go on to the graduate school of civil engineering is on the increase.
